Step 4

Make sure that you must open a port in your router before doing so since this will allow data to come through the firewall portion of your router to a specific device. 1. Click on the button that says Add Rule.

  2. Make up a name to put in the Application Name box. The name does not have any effect on the functionality of the forward; it's simply there so you can know why it was created.

  3. Use the Protocol dropdown box to select the protocol type of the ports you are forwarding. If your router has the option of Both, then choose that. Otherwise, choose either TCP or UDP as needed. If you need to forward a port for both TCP and UDP and your router does not have Both, then you have to create two entries.

  4. To forward a single port, enter the port number into the left Public Port and the right Public Port boxes. To forward a range of ports, enter the lowest number in the range into the left Public Port box. Then enter the highest number in the range into the right Public Port box.

  5. Enter the same values into the Private Port boxes that you entered into the Public Port boxes.

  6. Enter the IP address that you are forwarding ports to into the Local IP Address box. It is possible to forward a port to the IP address of your computer or to the IP address of a specific device on your internal network.

  7. Set Remote IP Address to Any, unless you understand what it's for and have a reason to set it otherwise.

  8. Make sure that the Status is toggled On.

  9. To finish adding an entry, Click the button labeled Apply.

  10. Remember to click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page to apply these changes when you are completely finished.
