Ignition Design Labs Portal Router Port Forwarding

An important aspect of having a Ignition Design Labs router on your home network is internet security. In general, routers block incoming internet connections and protect your network by only allowing the connections that you specifically set up. Sometimes it is necessary to unblock certain connections in your router or open a port in order to play a game or use an application. To help you get a better connection for gaming or using an application, you can open a port in your Portal and allow a direct connection.

Follow the steps below to open ports in your Ignition Design Labs Portal router:

1. Go ahead and set up a static IP address on the computer or device that you are forwarding these ports to.
2. Login to your Ignition Design Labs Portal router.
3. Navigate to the Inbound Rules section in your Ignition Design Labs Portal router.
   • Find the Firewall / Port Forwarding link located near the left of the screen and click it.
4. Create a Inbound Rules entry.

Setup A Static IP Address

It is important to set up a static IP address in the device that you are forwarding a port to. This ensures that your ports remain forwarded even after a reboot, power outage, or another type of device or router disconnect.

After setting up a static ip address on your devices you need to login to your router.

Login To Your Ignition Design Labs Router

Log in to your Ignition Design Labs Portal router. To log in you will need to use a web browser since the Ignition Design Labs Portal uses a web interface to access router configurations.

Open up whichever internet browser that you are comfortable with. If you are not sure which one to use, then go ahead and open Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.

Once you have opened a web browser, find the address bar which is usually located at the top of the screen. The image below shows an example of this.

Above is an example of what a web browser address bar looks like. Find the address bar in your web browser and type in your router's IP address.

The Ignition Design Labs Portal router's default IP address is: 192.168.8.1

Enter your router's IP address into the address bar of your browser and click the enter button on your keyboard. A box like the one below should appear.

Go ahead and enter the username and password for the Ignition Design Labs Portal router in the spaces available. Remember if you have changed them in the past, you need to enter those values.

Enter your username and password, and then click the Log In button to log in to your Ignition Design Labs Portal router.

Find the Port Forwarding Section

You should be on the home page of your Ignition Design Labs Portal router once you have successfully logged in. Find the Inbound Rules section of your router.

• Find the Firewall / Port Forwarding link at the left of the screen and click it.

You should now be on a page called Inbound Rules.

Create A Port Forward

Forwarding ports in your router creates a path that allows data to get through your network firewall, and this could lead to malicious traffic on your network. So make sure that you must forward a port before actually doing so. However, the risk is very low, so do not let this warning stop you from making this change if you need to.

Here are the ports to forward for Xbox Live:

• TCP Ports: 3074
• UDP Ports: 3074

1. Click the button labeled Add New Rule.
2. Make up a name to put in the Service Name box. The name does not have any effect on the functionality of the forward; it's simply there so you can know why it was created.
3. The Port box accepts either a single number or a range of numbers. If you are forwarding a single port number, then enter that port number into the Port box. If you are forwarding a range of ports such as 1000-2000, then you can enter the lowest number of that range into the Port box, followed by a hyphen, followed by the largest number.
4. Put a check in the box marked Same port for external.
5. Select the protocol type of the ports that you are forwarding from the Protocol dropdown box. If your router has the option of Both, then go ahead and select that. Otherwise, select either TCP or UDP as needed. If you need to forward a port for both TCP and UDP, but your router does not have Both, then you will need to create two entries.
6. Click on the Allow radio button.
7. Go ahead and enter the IP address that you are forwarding ports to into the LAN Destination IP box. It is possible for this to be either the IP address of your computer or of any other device on your network that you want ports forwarded to.
8. Choose Any from the WAN Source IP drop-down list.
9. Make sure to click the Apply button at the bottom of the page to apply these changes, when you are completely finished.

Test If Your Ports Are Open
