This guide allows you to use our Port Trigger application along with the port triggering section of your router to forward ports.
Open up the Port Trigger application, and click New button to configure a new rule.
Put a name of the program you are forwarding ports for in to the Application Name box. It doesn't really matter what you put into this box, but something that will remind you why this configuration is here would be a good idea. Click the Autoset button to get an external ip address. Alternatively you can enter any ip address that is outside of your network, in to the Target Address box. Enter the trigger port to use into the Trigger Port box. Once again it doesn't really matter what port you use here. You can pick any random port to put into the Trigger Port box, or just leave at it's default setting. Select the protocol to use by clicking the UDP/TCP radio buttons. Once again it doesn't really matter what protocol you select, but you do need to remember which one you chose. Later on in this guide, we will be entering the selections you chose here into your router. The Delay box tells the Port Trigger application how often to send the packets. If you have problems, like the ports not being forwarded all the time, you should decrease the number in the delay box.
I need you to fill in the boxes below, with the values you entered into the Port Trigger application. Entering the requested values will allow this guide to show you exactly how to configure your router.
Eyeon uses two ports per camera. If you have a second camera, you will have to set the ports of that camera so that they are different from the ports for the first camera. The same thing would have to be done for the thrid camera, and so on. Every port you setup will have to be forwarded to it's respective camera. I'll give example ports here for the first three cameras. Camera 1 - Port 80, 9001 Camera 2 - Port 81, 9002 Camera 3 - Port 82, 9003
This guide will show you how to forward ports for the first camera.
1. Check the LCD
Please write them down you will need it later. It will look something like this: IP Addr: 192.168.0.168 (where 0 and 168 are network dependent numbers) Mask:255.255.255.0 Gateway:192.168.0.1
Open a web browser like internet explorer or Netscape.
Enter the ip address of your router in the address bar of your browser. In the picture above the address bar has http://www.google.com in it. Just replace all of that with the ip address of your router. By default the ip address should be set to 192.168.2.1.
You should prompted for your password. Enter your password now. By default the password is blank. Click the Ok button to log in to your router.
On the left hand side click Initial Setup. This will bring you to another menu. Once again, on the left hand side click Special Application Ports. This will bring you to the following menu.
We will list a series of lines here that will show you exactly how to configure the router. Eyeon requires you to forward the 80,9001 ports. Go ahead and enter the settings shown above into the Special Application page.
You should see another page of settings that need to be entered into one of the blank lines on your router's Special Application ports page. Go ahead and enter those settings now.
When you are finished, click the Enter button at the bottom of the page to save your settings. And that's it! You're done!
