Port Forwarding for the Apple AirPort Extreme Base Station

To setup port forwarding on this router your computer needs to have a static ip address. Take a look at our Static IP Address guide to setup a static ip address. When you are finished setting up a static ip address, please come back to this page and enter the ip address you setup in the Static IP Address box below.

Do not skip this step!

Please enter the static ip you want to forward to:

10.0.1.




Open up the finder on your Mac.

Click the Applications button near the left side of the page.

Click the Utilities button near the right side of the page.




Click the AirPort Admin Utility button near the right side of the page.




Select your AirPort Extreme Base Station from the Select Base Station list.


Click the Port Mapping button near the top of the page.




Click the Add button near the right side of the page.




Public Port:
Private Address: 10.0.1.

We will list a series of lines here that will show you exactly how to forward the ports you need to forward. Apple Remote Desktop requires you to forward the 3283,5900,5988 ports. Go ahead and enter the settings shown above into the Port Mapping Add menu and then click Ok.

You should see another page of settings that need to be entered into one of the blank lines on your routers Port Mapping Add page. Go ahead and enter those settings and then click Ok.

When you're finished, click Update near the bottom of the screen to save your changes.

And that's it! You're done!
