Port Forwarding for the 2wire 2700HG-B

What is Port Forwarding?
What is Port Triggering?

Before we can forward ports for mIRC, we need to set the ports that Mirc uses. Here is a brief walkthrough on how to do that. Go ahead and open up mIRC.

Click View in the menu at the top of your screen. In the list that drops down click Options.

On the left hand side of this new page click the plus sign in front of Connect. In the list that drops down click the Options link. There should be an Advanced button on this page. Go ahead and click it now.

Make sure there is a checkmark in the DCC checkbox. We will be using 10051 through 10070 as our port range in this example, but you can choose any port range you like. If you decide to choose another port range, you will need to forward the ports you chose instead of 10051 to 10070. The port range we are using in this example gives us plenty of ports for DCC file transfers. Once you have set the ports to use click the OK button all the way out to mIRC's main menu.

Open a web browser like internet explorer or Netscape. Enter the ip address of your router in the address bar of your browser. In the picture above the address bar has http://www.google.com in it. Just replace all of that with the ip address of your router. By default the ip address should be set to 172.16.0.1.

Click the Firewall button.

Click the Firewall Settings button.

Use the Select a computer box to choose a computer to forward ports to. This box contains a list of computer names that are visible on your network. Click the Add a new user-defined application link.

  Application Name:
  Protocol: TCP UDP
  Port (or Range): From: To:
  Protocol Timeout (seconds): TCP default=86400
UDP default=600

Map to Host Port: Default= the same port as
defined above

We will list a series of lines here that will show you exactly how to forward the ports you need to forward. mIRC DCC - IRC DCC requires you to forward the 1024-5000 ports. Go ahead and enter the settings shown above into the Edit Application menu and then click Add Definition.

Click the Back button.

Select the applications you just created in the Applications list, then click the Add button to move them to the Hosted Applications box.

When you are finished, click the Done button at the bottom of your screen.

And that is it! You are done!
