Before we can forward ports for eDonkey, we need to figure out what ports eDonkey is using. Here is a brief walkthrough on how to do that. Go ahead and open up eDonkey.
Click the Options button in the menu at the top of your screen.
In the menu on the left hand side click Advanced. On this page you should see an UPnP Support checkbox. Please Uncheck that box.
We are going to click another option in the menu on the left hand side. Let's click Network this time. You should see a TCP Port box and an UDP Port box. Enter a random port into each of these boxes. It doesn't matter what ports you choose, but a port numbers between 10000 and 60000 would be a good idea. A higher numbered port is generally the best to use, because most ISP's do not block the higher numbered ports. Please enter the port you chose for the TCP Port box into the box below.
Open a web browser like internet explorer or Netscape. Enter the ip address of your router in the address bar of your browser. In the picture above the address bar has http://www.google.com in it. Just replace all of that with the ip address of your router. By default the ip address should be set to 172.16.0.1.
We will list a series of lines here that will show you exactly how to forward the ports you need to forward. eDonkey requires you to forward the ports you entered above. Go ahead and enter the settings shown above into the Edit Application menu and then click Add Definition.
You should see another page of settings that need to be entered into one of the blank lines on your routers Edit Application page. Go ahead and enter those settings and then click Add Definition.
When you are finished, click the Done button at the bottom of your screen. And that is it! You are done!
