Firewalling for the Agnitum Outpost Firewall Pro






 

Before we can open ports for BYOND, we need to set the port that BYOND will be hosting on. Here is a brief walkthrough on how to do that. Go ahead and open up Dream Seeker.



Load the game that you want to host. Once the game is loaded the Host button in the lower right of your screen shot light up. Click that button and you should see the screen above. Enter the port you want to host on into the Port box. It doesn't really matter what port you choose, but remember it because it is the port you will need to open. Please enter the port you chose into the box below.

BYOND's Host port

Open up BYOND Dream Seeker Host.


You might see a window pop up like the one above. If you do, put a dot in to the Allow all activities for this application radio button, and click the Ok button. If you try modifing the permissions for BYOND Dream Seeker Host with it open, you will get popup windows while trying to make your changes. So it's best to close BYOND Dream Seeker Host. Go ahead and do that now. Then go aheand and open up the Agnitum Outpost Firewall Pro.


Click Options in the menu at the top of your screen. Then click the Application link in the submenu that drops down.


Now you should be looking at a window that displays a list of applications that you have on your computer. Find BYOND Dream Seeker Host and right click it. Click the Create Rules or the Modify Rules link depending upon what show up in that list.


Go ahead and remove all the rules that are listed here. When you are done adding the rules shown on this page, be sure to look at the outgoing guides and add those rules as well. If BYOND Dream Seeker Host is not listed in the outgoing guides, create a rule that allows all outbound traffic for BYOND Dream Seeker Host.We are going to show you exactly how to configure the Lavasoft firewall from here on out. So you should make the screens look exactly like they do in this guide.
Click the New button on the right hand side of this window.
Rules
 
Select Event, then Action and then specify the Rule Description.
 
  1. Select Event the rule will handle:
Where the specified protocol is
Where the specified direction is
Where the specified remote host is
Where the specified remote port is
Where the specified local port is
Where the specified time interval is
Where the local port is equal to the remote port
  2. Select Actions the rule will respond with:
Allow it
Block it
Report it
Run application
Stateful Inspection
Ignore Compontent Control
  3. Rule Description {click on an underlined value to edit it}
Where the specified protocol is Undefined
Where the specified direction is Outbound
Where the local port is Undefined
  4. Rule Name
Outbound TCP for BYONDHost1
 


You will not be able to put a checkmark in to the Where the specified local port is checkbox until you complete the following step. Click the Where the specified protocol is Undefined link, and you should see the following window.

Select Protocol
 
Select protocol:
TCP
UDP
 


Click the Ok button to save your selection. Now go put a checkmark in to the Where the specified local port is checkbox. Click the and Where the direction is Outbound link, and change the direction to Inbound. Then click the and Where the local port is Undefined link.

Select local port
 
Port alias:
 
Enter the port number or port range, seperated by commas.
Example: 1, 3, 5-12
 


Click the Ok button to apply those changes. You should now be back at the rules page and it should look like the following.

Rules
 
Select Event, then Action and then specify the Rule Description.
 
  1. Select Event the rule will handle:
Where the specified protocol is
Where the specified direction is
Where the specified remote host is
Where the specified remote port is
Where the specified local port is
Where the specified time interval is
Where the local port is equal to the remote port
  2. Select Actions the rule will respond with:
Allow it
Block it

Run application
Stateful Inspection
Ignore Compontent Control

Where the specified direction is Inbound
Where the local port is 100000
  4. Rule Name
Inbound TCP for BYONDHost1 from 100000
 
Click the Ok button to save that rule.
Click the New button on the right hand side of this window.

You will not be able to put a checkmark in to the Where the specified local port is checkbox until you complete the following step. Click the Where the specified protocol is Undefined link, and you should see the following window.

Select Protocol
 
Select protocol:
TCP

Click the Ok button to save your selection. Now go put a checkmark in to the Where the specified local port is checkbox. Click the and Where the direction is Outbound link, and change the direction to Inbound. Then click the and Where the local port is Undefined link.

Click the Ok button to save that rule.
That should be it. The firewall should be properly configured.
